UN Security Council held a discussion on theme “Peacemaking after the conflict”

On December 20 the last open discussion of 2012 took place at the UN Security Council which was devoted to the theme “Peacemaking after the conflict”. UN Secretary General presented a report and the representatives of the member countries delivered speeches about theme. Press and information department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia informs about this.

Armenian permanent representative to the UN Karen Nazaryan underlined in his speech that the delaying of the conflict solution damages not only the regional cooperation and limits the peacemaking efforts but also includes big challenges of the conflict’s restart.

He added that the period after the conflict gives opportunity to create bases of development by the peacemaking processes and political will is needed for it first of all.

Ambassador Nazaryan also underlined that the SC refers to the theme very often and it means that the peacemaking process is considered to be important.
